When I left school, I knew that I enjoyed science and so I went to study it at university. However at this stage I did not know I want to be a scientist long term. When I was at university I got the chance to work in real research lab and here I realised how much I enjoyed science and doing experiments. At this point I realised that I definitely wanted to become a scientist.

Thanks for calling us amazing! I don’t think I’m an amazing scientist at all!

I had no idea what I would do when I left school except that I knew I was going to do Biochemistry at university. Then it just happened that I carried on doing science and working in a lab. I guess I thought I might be an accountant after university, but I’m glad I didn’t do that.

I wouldn’t say I’m amazing, not yet anyway!

I left school with an interest in science and I’ve just followed that interest for the last 15 years. I’ve learned so much since I left school, but there is no way I would have thought I’d be a research scientist 15 years ago.
