I remember when I was about 13 I wanted to be a teacher, that changed to wanting to be a pilot and at 16 I thought about being a doctor. At no point until I got to university did I think about being a scientist, but after I did a summer placement in a lab at the University of East Anglia I realised that was the direction I wanted to go in.

Hi weaver007, when I was young I was not sure what I wanted to do (like most people). I therefore did what I enjoyed, which was science and after going to university to study Biochemistry I realised that I really loved science and so decided to try and make career of it

When I was a teenager I thought I might want to to be a doctor until I realised that I got very bored every time my sister was telling me about what she was doing while studying medicine at university.

When I was very little, maybe 6 or 7, apparently I told people I wanted to be a “dog-food taster”. I was a strange kid.

      Hi weaver007,
Lots of different things! I wanted to work at NASA sometimes and to be a dancer or a medical doctor at others! I changed my mind a lot and to be honest I may still change what direction I head in career wise!

When I was young I wanted to be a vet, but then I realised I was really squeamish when I watched an operation where kidney stones were taken out of a dog! Then after that I don’t think I knew what I wanted to be…and I just followed what I found interesting!

Its always good to think about what jobs you think you’d like to do though, and my advise would be to try them out! See if you can get some work experience in places and then you’ll really know whether you would actually like to work there 🙂
