I did, I enjoyed it at school and I started to get interested in biology when I was about 14 when we started studying DNA and genetics. I think the reason I liked it in school was because I had some good teachers who made the subject interesting and made it seem relevant to everyday life. I think the reason I carried on studying it was because it is so interesting, there’s always something new to find and there are so many things we don’t really understand. The idea that there are things out there that are waiting to be discovered drives me and I guess is why I got interested in science when I was younger.

      Hi fisheyes101,
I did indeed. I very much liked to look at the stars when I was younger and learn about the planets too. It was really only later that I turned to biology. I think I probably liked it because I found that things like the universe or the human body are pretty mind blowing. All the things that had to happen for the universe to come into existence and for you and I to be here, and be aware of it, really fill me with a sense of wonder still!

I pretty much always enjoyed science at school and I remember getting a lot of science-related toys and home experiments for birthdays and Christmas. I think as a kid at school I liked that Science seemed to be a load of facts that I could learn whereas English, RE, and History were always a bit more complicated and needed opinions. By the time I reached 17/18 I just found Science really interesting and especially Biology for learning how our bodies and cells work. Then I started to love Science for the fact that it isn’t just a load of facts to be learned, but is actually a load of questions about the things we want to know and haven’t found out yet. That’s why research is great!
