      Not really, no. I think very few scientists will ever have real breakthroughs that change science completely, but all of us find new things in our research all the time and that is still often quite exciting.

      I don’t think I’ve ever been on the edge of a major breakthrough! Maybe in the future I will?! I do feel like I learn new things all the time though and things that the rest of the world doesn’t yet know : )

      Not yet, findings in cell biology take quite a long time because of the speed the cells grow at, plus you need to repeat your experiments to make sure what you’ve seen is true. There have been times when I’ve seen something new and been able to repeat those findings, but I’m not sure any of those would count as a breakthrough, not yet anyway!

      Not yet, I think of my research as a tiny part of a big puzzle – the new things i find are only one section of the puzzle, and you need lots of scientists working on the same area to finally have that breakthrough! I think of science as a team effort to the end goal of helping ill people 🙂
