• Question: Hi Matt and Dave, thank you for your excellent answers to my previous questions. So, I was wondering: How long would it take for 10 stem cells to grow? And: How many stem cells would grow in a week? Thanks very much -Rishi

Well, there are about 30-100 stem cells in a tooth, it takes about two weeks for them to grow to about 20,000, after that they double every 36 hours or so. So, if you started with 10 dental stem cells, you will have 20 at 36 hours and by one week you will have about 300 cells. Adult stem cells don’t grow that fast, compared to bacteria for example which double every 20 minutes or so (I think).
