• Question: how can stem cells regenerate limbs for salamanders?

      There is a lot of work going on in this area, I’m not really sure, but there are genes which salamanders have which allow them to regenerate limbs. What these genes are is a work in progress, but some people think that we may have them as well, it’s just that our copies don’t work. I think they work because a signal is received to say the limb has gone, this causes stem cells to start to proliferate and replace the damaged tissue.

      Sorry I can’t add to much more, but it’s a really interesting question!
