Fire starts when a combustible substance (something that burns) has it’s temperature increased above it’s flash point (by a spark for example) in the presence of an oxidiser (mostly oxygen). So most fires start in this way. The type of fire depends on the fuel source, these are ordinary combustibles (like paper or wood), flammable liquids, flammable gases, electrical equipment, combustible metals, radioactive materials and cooking oil or fat.

I hope that answers your question!
