      Wow thanks joeyboii!

You’ve put me under some pressure here and I don’t know what to say!

I think science is really important and we need more scientists and more people who understand some science. Science is the thing that makes the world advance like it has. Science has given us cars, tv, smartphones, paracetamol, the internet, vaccines that stop us getting nasty diseases and tons of medicines and treatments for disease. Science keeps on moving forward to improve our health and to make our lives more fun. Being a scientist means you can help a bit with this advance in technology, medicine and understanding of the world. If you’re the type of person who enjoys asking questions about how things work and trying to understand the world around you, then you should definitely be a scientist! If you’re not sure, it’s still great if you find science interesting!

Mainly what I’d say to you is that I never decided that I would be a scientist. At school I enjoyed science lessons so decided I would do science at uni, but I didn’t know what job I’d do afterwards. You don’t have to become a scientist after a science degree – I have a friend who is now a lawyer and another who is an accountant and they both did the same subject as me at uni. At the end of my degree I decided I wanted to carry on doing science at uni and here I am! I’m still not sure what sort of job I want to have for the rest of my life though. What I think you should do is do a degree in a subject that you like at uni and after that think a bit about what sort of job you want, but you don’t need a plan now! If you want to do science at uni, great! If you enjoy it at uni, then carry on doing it, if not, then get out of science! It isn’t for everybody!

I hope this answer is ok! I don’t really know how to be inspiring 🙂

I would echo what Dave has said. You need to find something that interests you, be that science or anything. If you have something you want to get out of bed for and work hard at then you’ll succeed.
