      Well, that sounds a lot like something called somatic cell nuclear transfer. This is the process where a nucleus is taken from one cell and put into an egg cell which has had all the DNA taken out. This is the basis of a lot of cloning work and is how Dolly the sheep was made. That is probably the best example of what happens when parts of 2 different cells are put together.

      Also fertilisation, when a sperm and egg combine, is basically two half cells (in terms of DNA) coming together to make one cell, which then goes on to make a person.
