      Hi again lilpanda,
Cells are really useful because we can keep them growing and use them for experiments whenever we need to. In that sense they are a great system to work with!

I don’t remember being inspired by any one thing, but when I decided I wanted to carry on doing science and working in a lab, I knew I wanted to work in a Biology-related part of science. Most scientists that work on things like cancer or other diseases work with cells in the lab, because all of our bodies are made from cells, so we have to study cells!

      Hi lilpanda

I really enjoyed biology at school and I thought the images you see of the different parts of the cell like the nucleus were amazing. I did biochemistry at university and moved into tissue engineering which all about building new body parts with cells. After that I got more involved with stem cells and now that is what I work on most of the time.

The reason I got into tissue engineering is because I broke my wrist when I was 15 and needed surgery to fix the break, when I heard about tissue engineering I realised that it could be used to help people like me, so I decided to do a PhD in it.
