      Hi vampire1234

I’ve done some interviewing for dental students so I’ve been able to read a few UCAS applications. This is entirely my own view and your careers advisor is the best person to ask.

However, for me the most important thing after grades was that the person was well rounded and had a clear interest in the subject. Grades will always be the first thing people look at so make sure you are predicted to get (or get close to) the entry requirements. After that it is about looking different to the other applicants, for example blogging about stories in news that are related to your subject of choice can demonstrate your interest in it. Voluntary work is also a useful way of standing out, although this is a lot more common now.

After that it is important that the applicant has interests outside studying, sports and music are always good things on a CV, as is a part time job. The key however is looking like you are really interested in the subject and being able to show that.

I hope that helps, if you want any more advise let me know!

      Hi vampire1234,
Again I agree with Matt. Grades are obviously the first thing people look to but after that it is pretty important that you’re well rounded and enthusiastic! One thing that really impresses me when I’m interviewing someone is if they’ve read around the subject and can demonstrate that they are genuinely interested so it would be great to prepare in that way if you could.
