I think it’s some work I’ve done recently looking at taking stem cells from teeth. Some other researchers thought dental stem cells had one type of protein on their surface, but I’ve shown that this isn’t the case and that these cells are not really dental stem cells. I’m quite pleased with that because there are companies who have started claiming this protein can be used to grab the cells, which is not true. Hopefully this work will be published quite soon.

      Hi queenofdaemos,
I am playing a part in proving that “repressive” protein complexes (sort of like cellular machinery) which were originally thought to have just one job (which was turning genes off) are actually way more complex than that and they in fact can have many roles!

Doing good lab work and getting results is always satisfying and we can all be proud of our research, but the best part for me is when you see that your work has been published in a scientific journal for other scientists around the world to read. Then you can be proud of your research and also of the fact that other scientists thought the work was good enough to be published. I’ve only had my work published twice so far, but I’ve sent some work off recently in the hope that I can get another paper published!
