A balanced diet is really important for lots of things. Basically it will help you live longer and with less ill health. A balanced diet will give your body all of the things it needs without you having too many of the things that aren’t so good for you. Most foods aren’t bad for you in small amounts, but in larger amounts they can be quite bad, so don’t eat lots of fatty foods every day!

Without a balanced diet you might become overweight or obese and this can lead to many other diseases. Obesity is likely to lead to heart problems, diabetes, and can increase your risk of developing some types of cancer. In fact, 10% of cancers have been linked to diet actually, so you need to make sure you eat enough fruit and veg or you might be increasing your risk of getting cancer!

These are just some things that a balanced diet is important for, but I’m sure it can have many other effects including on your mood, how easy you find it to get up in the morning and how often you get sick with colds.
